It's Time to Wait

Now that the majority of us have finished taking our 2012 AP Exams, it's time to wait until July!

My question to you is: What exams did you take this year? How did you think you did (score-wise)? Is there any particular reason for this projection or gut feeling of yours?

I'll start :)

AP Chemistry (4-5): It was challenging. The second free response question tripped me up, and I've been stressing myself out so much working through all the scenarios of how my test could be scored.

AP English Language (4-5): It was easier than I was expecting, though I thought that the essay prompts were overly dull this year.

AP US History (5): Easy test.

FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

AP Gov: 1 or 2. I COMPLETELY failed the FRQs.
APUSH: 4 (maybe 3): It was an easy test, but I’m scared my formats may have been off. I retook this exam.

APES-5: Was pretty easy, and well inside the curve
Psych-5: FRQ was weird, but I should have enough from MC
CS-5: REALLY easy…
English Lit-5: MC was easy, essays were good enough
US Gov-5: Pretty easy with class/APUSH/following politics
French-5: I was really worried about this one but, despite a screw up on the oral, I think I got enough points for a 5
Stats-5: Easily, I have no problems with math and I had a class
Macro-5: Pretty standard stuff
Micro-5: Statndarsd stuff except FRQ #3, I’m really glad my Macro teacher taught us tariffs
Comp Gov-I haven’t taken it yet, but I expect a 5 due to the 70% curve and the easiness of the questions on practise tests.

Garfieldliker, are you predicting your scores based off of the AP Pass calculators/2008-2009 curves? Or are you readjusting due to perceived difficulty?

I’m just curious, all because of Chem this year…

Keep 'em coming, guys!

I’m basing losely around those curves, but I think I passed them by comfortable margins in most cases…of course, I can’t know for French(since it’s the new exam), but I think I got ~80% of the points, so that should be a 5 unless the curve is epically strict…

AP Government - I’m really hoping I got a 3. :frowning: I totally failed the FRQ’s, since I didn’t know what to expect (first AP exam). Hopefully doing good on the MC will redeem the FRQ enough to get a 3.

Spanish Lang (3-4)-The test wasn’t as bad as I thought, but I could’ve done better on the speaking portions and the listening portions were difficult to understand at times. I’m almost positive I at least passed it, but I’m not sure on the 4.

English Lit (4-5)-I found the test to be incredibly easy. I’m leaning a bit more towards the 4 due to past curves, though.

American Gov (3-4)-I had the class first semester, so I was removed from the material. That said, the MC was easy; it’s the FRQs that I’m unsure about.

Macroeconomics (4)-MC was easy and looking back on the FRQs and what people are saying the answers are, I got most of the points. I’m not sure what the past curves for the exam were though, so I’m estimating low.

Calc BC- 5. Really easy except I bombed the 3rd FRQ (thought it was the graph of f PRIME of x, facepalm), but nearly perfect on the other FRQs and definitely less than ~15 MC wrong

Chemistry- 4, Wasnt too bad but I didn’t take any notes or pay attention this year, so i didn’t know how to do some frqs.

Microeconomics- 3 Same as chemistry, but i put in even less effort

Macroeconomics- 4-5, the exam was actually really easy…

Physics C: Mechanics: 4, MC was really easy but didnt finish frqs (self study)

Physics C: E & M: 5, really easy FRQs and MC was ok (self studied)

English Literature: 5, raped the multiple choice and the poem. Did a bit worse on the prose and open ended question but I’m reasonably confident i scored a 5.

Cant wait till july 1 …

Biology (5) - The MC section was very easy, I probably got around 90/100 right on that. The FRQ was a bit tougher; the first one about embryonic development was a little tough, and the last one that had to do with carbon was a little tough as well. The middle two questions were fairly easy though, so definitely a 5 (well hopefully).

Calc AB (5) - Had a little trouble with three or four MC here and there total, but FRQ was a joke. Very easy, expecting an easy 5 (again, hopefully).

English Lit (3) - MC was hard, essays were not too bad but I think I got a 3.

I think I will be able to find out my AP scores during AP scores by phone release through my college app.

I’m predicting:
AP Chemistry: 5
AP Calculus BC: 5 Subscore AB: 5
AP English Literature: 4-5 (hard to predict because MC is so deceptive
AP US Gov: 5

I’m predicting this scores based on my feel of the exam and because I worked really hard this year both in class and through my reviewing period

Pseble, just curious.

Specifically, how did you feel about the AP Chem exam?

Lang and Comp 3-4

AP US Gov 3-4

APES - 4?
AP Psych - 4/5
AP Calc AB - 5
AP Physics - 2/3 (this test was hard!!)
AP Gov - 4/5
AP English - 3/4 (never was good in English. I expected a 2 going in, but felt confident going out)

CantConcentrate, during the school year when my teacher covers each topic, I read in our textbook (Zumdahl 7th Edition). I took regular chemistry prior to AP chemistry so it wasn’t as hard for me as it was for the people who jumped into AP chemistry. During Mid March up until the AP exam, I used the Princeton Review for Chemistry 2012 and went over it many times due to block schedule periods at my school in April

Hence, AP Exam FRQ number 2 on one of the parts in that problem I just guessed how to do it but the rest I knew everything. The MC was moderate but some require some calculation but I round my numbers sometimes just to get an approximation.

AP Bio 4/5 Had a tough weekend didn’t get to study much cuz of family problems --
AP WH 4/5 IT WAS SOO HARD TT
AP Cal AB 3 I totally bombed the MC T_T (self studied) but didn’t prepare I’m just going to study for Cal BC and get a 5 on it next year with the AP Physics C
And also Pseble I’m taking AP chem next year and I’m wondering what kind of review books are usually more concise and helpful. I know there are different ones out there but I heard Barron isn’t that good? So I’m wondering which ones you would recommend thanks :)

daesung, Princeton’s is pretty good for AP Chem. Barron’s is too convoluted. 5 Steps is trash.

Anyone else want to share some thoughts? :D

AP Environmental Science - 5 - Read Cliffs the day before and did some studying before that. Rather easy.

AP Biology - 4/5 - FRQs were tough in my opinion. Class didn’t cover everything, but the stuff we didn’t cover didn’t come up much on the test.

US Government - 5 - Easy test overall really. I over-prepared.

Comparative Government - 4 - Tough test. Asked a lot for specifics, which I didn’t know, and my book was a bit outdated.

English Language - 4 - Never took the class. Pretty much read essays online in the weeks before the test.

Macroeconomics - 5 - Had a great teacher, and it was a pretty easy test.

APUSH (5): Easy.
AP Art History (4-5): I feel pretty prepared to get a 4, becuase I’m not sure how my essays will go over with graders, but I would like a 5.
AP English (4-5): MC was good, and I think my essays were okay, but the curve is not very forgiving.

AP Studio Art (3-4): For all of you who don’t know what AP Studio is, we create 24 artworks and submit them to the collegeboard and they assign us a score like regular AP exams on how our artwork would go over if it was produced in a college art class. 12 of our artworks can be of anything we want, but 12 have to relate to one central theme, and they are sent digitally for reviewing. 5 of our 24 are also sent by mail for a ‘Quality’ score to be composed, and we get digital scores for out Breath and Concentration. So I think my Breath and Quality were good, but my concentration lacked alot of exploration so I think that may hold my score down. :(

CantConcentrate: I have always gone with Barron’s for all my AP test books, except when my APUSH teacher told me to get the Kaplan’s (which I felt had way to much information), and I also used the Annotated Mona Lisa in conjuction with my Barron’s AP Art History book becuase I liked how the Annotated Mona Lisa had color images to look at opposed to the black and white ones of the Barron’s (but all AP Art His prep books have no color images). I have not bought Princeton’s though, but only becuase I am able to buy the Barron’s cheaper on Amazon and used at my local bookstore.

I’ve also looked at purchasing 5 steps for AP World and APUSH and whatnot, but they always read sub-par to the Barron’s and Princeton’s.

CantConcentrate - thanks
@Mysticalkites mind giving me any recommendations for sources on art history?
