IU Elective Dance Program

I know Jacobs has got a fantastic ballet program, but I was wondering if any of y'all have any insights as to their elective dance program. I'm considering IU for a number of their other majors/programs, and I was wondering what kind of treatment their elective program has. Is it a multi-level class? Is it split into several studios within that time period? Is it taken seriously by the department?

The IU Ballet Department offers ballet classes for levels Beginner through Advanced to students across the IU campus.

Teachers are from the IU Ballet Department’s Majors’ Program, who study pedagogy under Rory Foster, former American Ballet Theatre dancer and author of The Art of Teaching.

Classes take place in the Ballet Department from 8am to 11am and 5:45pm to 8:30pm.

Schedules can be obtained through the Schedule of Classes and are listed under the Jacobs School of Music. For undergraduates, the course is MUS-J100 and for graduate students, it is MUS-J700. There is no audition or placement class for elective ballet classes.

All students wishing to participate in any elective ballet class must officially register, as the Jacobs School of Music does not allow auditing of MUS-J100 or MUS-J700.
