IU Kelley Petition Tracker 2021

I wanted to refresh the Kelley petition thread from last year for this year.

For prospective Kelley students who don’t meet the criteria, keep in mind that the only thing that Kelley considers for petitions are:

  • High school performance (grades, rigor in the context of your school, class rank)
  • Test scores (if available)
  • Provided essays

Typically most competitive petitions exceed the direct admission criteria in either test scores or GPA. For instance, a student might have a 3.9 GPA or 32 ACT.

No other supplementary materials are considered, so if you have something else to share with Kelley then make sure to include it in the respective essay.

The middle 50% of approved petitions for fall 2020 were:

GPA: 3.70 to 4.0
SAT superscore (Math and Evidence-Based Reading & Writing): 1290 to 1390
ACT superscore (Composite): 28 to 32

Also, there was a 65% petition acceptance rate last year.

Good luck to all!

I petitioned on 10/24 but I have not heard anything. What are my chances of acceptance with the following items:

4.2 GPA
1360 SAT
27 ACT

4 AP’s , all others all dual credit and honors

@kapflumm those are great stats and are well above the average for admitted students. I think those alone will get you in.

I petitioned 11/3/2020,
Stats are below. What do you think my chances are?
3.87 GPA
1360 SAT
I was unable to make the direct admit, but would love to attend IU Kelley. Also, I submitted my regular Application about 1.5 weeks ago, and no update

Submitted application 10/29. Received an email today that they have the application, but no student number or instructions to set up a portal. Does that come in another week? Does the Kelley appeal process require more essays, or do they just read the supplement submitted with the Common App?

Submitting application within the next two weeks (by Dec. 2nd deadline). Anyone have any ideas what my chances would be?

Stats:

GPA: 3.71 weighted (2.99 unweighted), all honors, upwards grade trend
Test Scores: SAT Superscore 1470 (780 Math, 690 EBRW)
Out of State

@NYCDad26 yes - the email with IU ID to set-up portal to track status is not far behind.

@21undecided21 you’re looking good! don’t sweat it. good news is on the horizon.

@KyNizzy did you already get word from Kelley?

I submitted my petition on September 24th and still have not heard anything back. I petitioned with a 4.2 GPA and a 1350 SAT score. I received admission to IU on October 12th.

Any idea of when I should receive my petition decision back?

@NYCDad26 The petition process has two essay questions with up to around a 200-250 word count. You will need to look up the Kelley petition online and it will prompt you with application to petition.

Has anyone heard from Kelley yet? Either via direct admit criteria or petition?

@belair0522 First wave of Kelley acceptances will be released on Friday per a call to the Kelley office.

Hi! I petitioned in September with a 4.0 GPA and a 1300 SAT with 5 AP classes, do you think I have a good chance of getting in? Thanks!

I petitioned to Kelley in September with these stats. What do you think my chances of getting in are?
3.76 GPA
29 ACT

I petitioned with a
3.86 Weighted GPA
1360 SAT.
Thoughts on my chances?

@ryders3 long shot of a question… any idea if this Friday release is an email or they are bringing snail mail to post office?

Question about the second question on the petition (special circumstances). Is it ok to leave it blank or just say none? I feel its like the Common App Covid questions-unless you have been particularly affected, leave it blank. Appreciate thoughts.

@NYCDad26 considering whether to leave it blank or say none as well.

@fanoffriends honestly, probably an email. if i had to bet, it would come around 5 PM EST since that’s when I usually get mail from them.
