IUF1000 for an out-of-state transfer student?

Hi everyone! I know that this is a question primarily for an advisor, but I figure I would ask about it here as well! My question is whether or not I need to take IUF1000 and if I need to, do I have to take it before the fall 2018 semester? Could I take it in the summer instead?

Some relevant information…

  • I transferred into the University of Florida (Spring 2018) from a California college with two AA degrees in interdisciplinary studies.
  • On my UF transcript for summer term 2017 it states that I was awarded an associates of arts certificate.
  • Additionally, I have at least 9 hours of humanities that fulfill the GE requirement.
  • My degree audit is not up-to-date because all of my credits are from an out-of-state college, so I am unable to use that as a reference. I know that this can be resolved by sitting down with an advisor, which I will do on Monday!

Any information or insight would help! Thanks!

“What is the Good Life” is only required for freshmen. Transfer students, I’m pretty sure, don’t have to take it.

An AA degree from out of state does not mean the same thing as an AA degree from a Florida public institution. If you were admitted you would sit down with an advisor and go over your degree requirements. You may very well need to take What Is The Good Life.

Sorry, this is late, but thanks! You’re both right! As a transfer student, I had likely taken courses that fulfilled that requirement. I ended up sitting down with an advisor and they were able to confirm and clear the requirement for me. Thanks!
