Hi!!!
Were you accepted in EA or RD?
Another question…how bad is New Haven? How often students go to NY? Do you spend most of your time in campus?
I mean…most of your free time?
@RobotsAreReal What was the ‘it’ factor on your app that you think gave you admission to Yale - since your test scores and ECs were subpar? Did you have another ‘hook’?
I still can’t grasp the fact my dreams are going to be crushed tomorrow, hahaha :’)
@Cariño
I was accepted RD, I didn’t apply EA because I decided that I wanted to take the extra time to make sure my application was exactly how I wanted it it and not rush into things.
I have lived in Connecticut my entire life and have grown up around New Haven, so I’m pretty used to it. There is a lot of crime and it’s safest to walk with someone else if you’re going out after dark, but I like being able to easily walk to shops and restaurants from my dorm and don’t mind living on a city campus nearly as much as I thought I would. I’m not sure how often most students go to NYC, but I usually visit around 2-3 times per year. I personally spend a lot of time on campus, but also visit home relatively frequently since I live in state.
@suzyQ7
I live in CT and have one family member who works at Yale which I’m sure had a big influence (though none of my family has ever attended Yale), though probably the biggest “hook” was that I have been very involved with the field of Social Robotics for as long as I can remember (which is one of the Yale’s more unique/niche focuses and Yale is one of the few schools with plenty of research opportunities for working with therapy robots). Yale doesn’t have a specific major in Social Robotics as its a pretty new and small field, but they do have an active lab dedicated to it and several other labs there also work with therapy robots (and I had communicated with some of these labs prior to applying).
I created/ran a few volunteer programs using therapy/social robots in the New Haven community during high school and also my common app essay and main extracurricular were connected to this field, so my interest was pretty clear in my application (and I may have gotten rejected from some other schools because they did not offer any opportunities in this field). I was still extremely surprised about being accepted though, as Yale was a definite reach school for me.
Thank you RobotsAreReal!!! Very kind of you…
Duke’s rate for ED was 7.3%!!! Wow!
My son says that by the time he applies to college the admission rates will be negative numbers…(he is in 7th grade) 8-|
To everyone who has been rejected from schools with considerably higher admit rates than the ivies, just know that a girl from my school last year was rejected from NYU but accepted to Yale!
Also, I think I’m going to open like this (preference):
Penn
Cornell
Brown
Less than a day left.

I got into Harvard Now I just gotta hear back from Princeton tomorrow.
Hey guys, best of luck tomorrow! Try not to die of cardiac arrest haha. Would it be a bad idea to wait until Friday to open them with Stanford?
@emli8100 In my opinion, that would be a bad idea, but whatever floats your boat…
@greenteen17 Why is that a bad idea haha? I’m open to opinions
Just few hours left…Good luck everyone!!! My daughter was accepted to Duke!!! Waiting for few more tomorrow!!
After being rejected from Duke and Hopkins I have no hope I’m numb at this point and just trying to brace myself for the ton of rejections that I’ll be getting tomorrow. I feel like I’ve done all I could do at this point, but I know that so many other students have pushed themselves just as hard as I have throughout HS. I’m considering Georgetown or Vassar right now though. Good luck everyone and may the odds be ever in your favor
@emli8100 Well, I’m the type of person that doesn’t like waiting. It would be torturous for me to know that decisions are sitting there and just not look at them. But if it works for you, go for it!
rejected from Hopkins here too - hoping for better news tomorrow 8-|
@hopelessopus12 @JamesB007 Getting rejected from another place doesn’t mean you won’t hear good news tomorrow. Chin up, think positively and good luck
Georgetown and Vassar are great schools!!! Good for you!!!
Hi, everyone! I wish you all the best of luck as we head into tomorrow. My brothers and I (we’re quadruplets) applied to almost all of the Ivies. . . Tomorrow should be interesting, to say the least! :))
