Ivy League athletic recruiting

Jersey,

I think DIII can have paid visits. My D had some.

According to the NCAA rules, DIII schools can pay for an OV; I do not personally know of this occurring. My son visited several NESCAC’s and all the coaches discussed the bands and slots with us. One coach had the athletes listed by band on his wall in his office. He forwards transcripts/test scores/school profiles to admissions and they let him know what band the recruit will fall into. The numbers are evidently a “moving target”. It was actually Tufts that had the 3.1GPA athlete. I know of two other athletes going there also with sub 3.5’s. It depends on the high school and the curriculum. One school’s 3.5 is definitely not another school’s 3.5.

Tufts women’s soccer coach stated she liked to see her athletes have a 3.8. At my D’s very rigorous private high school that would be a pretty amazing GPA.

^^Agree. GPA’s like that are rare at the top preps and Tufts knows that. Adjustments are made accordingly. Maybe a 3.3 at your D’s school is considered equitable to a 3.8 and the local public.

Perhaps. However, matters not! D will instead play against Tufts for Midd (1st choice). :)

Congrats! :)

Congrats! excellent guide…, thank you for sharing! just read it and am trying to figure out how to navigate this for my S.

This is an old thread - it’s available as a Kindle download now. You can preview it on Amazon to see if it’s something that interests you.

and me… Thank you!

What is the title or ISB on kindle

if you copy and paste the title of this thread in the amazon search bar it should be the first hit

This sounds like a great resource @varska‌. Perhaps you should consider putting it online via personal blog site like wordpress etc. And then we could all read it there or download it.

@VanOsch, I do have a blog site - search for tier1athletics. The kindle proceeds from the recruiting guide help support a foundation that provides AED equipment to high schools.
With respect to the CC terms - I’m not going to link to either here. Thanks.

Hi varska,
