Ivy League Baseball

I am a 2017 LHP and I am wondering what the general statistics of Ivy League pitching recruits. Currently I am throwing upper 70’s, and am trying to find out how that compares to those already committed.

Any help is appreciated,
Thank You.

shoot for 85 as a lefty

You’ve still got time to to increase your velo, and it should be one of your priorities. Ivy Baseball is D1 baseball and in general, I would say you’d have to be very, very special with your command and variety of off speed pitches to be successful without a jump in velo. That said, there is more room to be a little lower on velo as an LHP at all levels, Ivy included. Good luck and keep working. Hit the weight room and find a good pitching coach.

Thank you for both of your replies. @nhparent9 As a sophomore, I feel I do have time as you said, and will make the weight room a large part of my training in the coming years. @HVbaseballDad Thank you for the Yale pitcher profile, it really helps me narrow down the requirements to reach my goal.

You’re welcome. I should have been more detailed in my response. If you are going to lift weights, get on a pitcher specific program. You’ll want to increase strength while also increasing flexibility. Please don’t just go randomly lift weights, consult a qualified trainer to get a regimen to meet your goals.

OP, generally every August each Ivy puts out a press release about the baseball recruits who are about to enroll the following month. These releases are on each school’s website. You can go back quite a ways by using the archive feature.

See who the pitchers are, then look them up by typing their names in the player search bar at Perfect Game. http://www.perfectgame.org/

Even without a membership to the Perfect Game website, you can usually see the best that Perfect Game has recorded for each player under “FB”. (fastball). Not all Ivy recruits will be in the Perfect Game data base, but a lot are.

Good advice @fenwaypark. I would agree with that approach as well.
