IYA Class of 2020

Also I have two theories about the purpose of the interviews.

  1. They already knew who they were going to accept/reject and the interviews were just a confirmation of their beliefs.
  2. All 65 of us were capable of creative thought, and now they just want to see which 25 are the most personable/friendly/compatible with one another

I felt the same way for the interview: So much to say with so little time, and their questions didn’t quite head down the direction I was hoping. And yes, time went crazy fast in that room ! @collegecurious15

And interesting theories… I hate to admit it but there’s probably some truth to your 1st theory (and some other kids I talked to brought this up as well). The interviews could have been to confirm their prior beliefs and to assign scholarships to those kids, but who knows (all just speculation). It’s just a shame that so many people & families came out even though over half of us will end up getting cut. ):

I’m curious to know what you guys thought about the dinner as well. Wouldn’t some people have been at a slight disadvantage if they didn’t have, say, Erica herself at their table? Was it all truly randomized? Of course I could be way over-thinking this lol I’d love to hear all of your thoughts

@SippinCoffee lol I over-analyzed this entire weekend too. When I spoke to the current students during the Garage tour, they told me the entire weekend was an interview, not just the 20 minutes in the room. So I don’t really know what that means but I’m guessing the staff was watching how we behave/interact with each other during the dinners and presentations

anyone get in?

I did! I was kind of scared since I couldn’t stay for the entire weekend and only came to the interview itself, but somehow everything worked out.

Now I need to figure out how to pay for college :’(

Got in!

And same…as much as I love IYA, USC is just crazy expensive

Did they post the scholarship info yet?
