Hey! I just submitted my iovine and young application a couple days ago. I’m super excited but nervous. Really hope I get an interview! Anyone know when they let us know?
I wanted to create a thread because I haven’t seen one made for our year

Hi! I’m so glad that somebody made a thread… I’ve been checking every few days. We’ll find out in late January. I’m so nervous!
Mind sharing stats?
1450 SAT, 32 ACT, class rank 1/439, and 4.3 W/3.9 UW GPA.
Nice!
1100 SAT, 28 ACT, class rank I have no idea! but there are at least two people smarter than me at my school, 3.5 W/ 3.2 UW GPA
Wishing you all the best!
According to current students (DMed most on IG to ask) IYA has been notoriously reliant on stats in the past so hopefully that helps us!
My stats are:
SAT: N/A, ACT: 36, GPA: 4.22/4, Rank: school doesn’t rank
I submitted my application and was lucky to know that there was a grace period for the portfolio bc I was almost not done lol. I had so much I wanted to submit and our Santa Barbara vacation home had terrible wifi so I couldn’t get that much done.
1580 SAT, 35 ACT (my test was booty cheeks, but I didn’t want to take it again lol) class rank n/a (we don’t have class rank), and 10.8 GPA (I go to Exeter so it is out of 11). I had more of a tech portfolio, but I heard that we all have an even chance of getting in no matter what our style of work is! My dad and sister are a part of the trojan network and have donated lmao so I think I’m gonna be fine
anyone know how many people get interviewed and how many people apply each year?
no, i don’t
Well… their website says they have an acceptance rate of 8% and that they aim to have a class of 25 students. 25 is 8% of 312.5 so I think a little over 300 people apply every year. I believe 70 something make it to interviews.
Does everyone who gets an interview get into USC? It says that all interview candidates qualify for scholarship consideration and since all scholarship candidates are admitted will this apply to the academy interviewees too?
My daughter is in the Academy and when she was invited for the interview there was no indication that she was already admitted into USC, so I suspect it is a separate interview just for IYA — although that interview does also count for scholarship consideration. There was no talk of scholarships during the interview, but she received one with her admissions box in April. All of the good news came at once — and we literally didn’t know anything until she received the box from USC. I believe if you aren’t invited for an interview at IYA, your application moves to your second choice major (or general admissions) but I’m not sure what happens if you interview but don’t get accepted into IYA…my guess is you go into the second choice/general pool but I’ll ask around and post if I get some insight… good luck! It’s an AMAZING program!! She loves it!
Thank You! Awesome that your daughter loves it. It’s truly a one of a kind program.
Any guesses on the date interviews will be released?
IYA folks see post by @AggieMom68 in the main 2024 thread. Post #214 on page 11.
She has a lot of experience and insight into IYA!
Hi, My daughter is in WBB. I am familiar with IYA but do not have much insight. Sorry.
Any questions regarding the USC Marshall World Bachelor in Business, feel free to reach out to me. Fight On!
oh duh me @AggieMom68 I knew that. Total flub on my part!!! Never post before I am awake AND alert. Hope your D doing well wherever she is now!!!
Haha, no issues. All is well from our side. She is still at USC this year. We are sold on the Trojan pride.
Hey @prospectiveiyastudent, looks like the interview decisions should come out via email this Thursday, 1/23 or Friday, 1/24 around 5pm (maybe Pacific time?) according to the 2023 IYA thread, posts #1, 12, and 17. Fingers crossed we get invited!
The wait is killing me :0 I found out about IYA when I was a sophomore. Until that point I was struggling in school, had just been diagnosed with ADHD, and wasn’t motivated. Spent 3 years working on my application and submitted a rock solid portfolio. I primarily do marketing and video for my school, sports teams, and individuals too. My pitch video was an app/notebook product that helps kids with ADHD stay focused. I’ll link the video here: https://youtu.be/Hahmk6C9pw0
Stats:
3.45 GPA(heavily upward trend, 3.0 freshman year to in 4.0 junior year)
1410 SAT
Stellar letters of recommendation
2 Varsity sports(baseball and wrestling)
Common App Personal Essay was named one of the best in my school’s senior English dept.
Good luck to everyone that applied and I hope all of our hard work is rewarded
I got an interview 2 hours ago! I’m so excited but extremely nervous.
Happy to say that I got an invitation as well! Any insight from interviewees from past years?
