Wasn't there a question like 'You do not lend money to a person known to be a liar' or something??

Can a phrase 'known to be' be grammatically correct?

Should that phrase be changed to 'known as'?

Anyway I chose E....

Not being a native US citizen, I'm writing my first English Thread(?) here; so please understand me even though my writing is a little bit weird.. Thanks..

I remember being stuck on that question too. I chose E as well, because I recalled a Barron's prep book saying "known as" is incorrect, while a collegeboard practice test explained "known to be" as grammatical.

Sorry I meant, Barron's said "known as" is grammatical, while CB said "known to be" is grammatical.
