January 2009 SAT Writing Discussion

no error for oyster, "because of" for Hagia Sofia. on the Hagia Sophia question: the sentence was something like "not so much for its ______ but because of " and i figured it should've been "not so much for its _ but for its ___"....

does anyone remember the codfish question exactly..

I second the coldfish request.

sofia one was not experimental, cuz I had CR experimental and had the sofia one.

damn, I put "such areas as" for codfish. one wrong. countless to come.

which writing section was not experimental? the one with the passage about organic vegies or the other one

i second lotastic on hagia sofia.

but for oyster, is it correct to say "few such vessels remain"?

and how about the giant tortoise who "sat basking"?

finally, was the helen of troy one correct?

was the codfish setence ID or correction? relative number?

The codfish one had 2 indep clauses. The first clause had a singular verb and was set off from the second clause by a semicolon. Thus, I put they are as the answer choice (wrong, should be it is) but im not sure

ingette, I didn't have giant tortoises or Helen of Troy anywhere. Experimental?

Codfish question iirc: The codfish lives something something something; they are something something something. Basically, I remember there being an error between the singular codfish and the plural they...

what essay score do you need in order to get 800 with 1 wrong in MC?

There was one writing...don't know if this was experimental or not...about eyeglasses/lenses....i marked A, which was "Since". Is this what you guys got?

i also said few such vessels remain
i just thought of codfish as plural and singular because FISH is the same in the singular and plural form.. i dont know.

gosh, i don't remember the codfish at all! was it ID?

Even though I knew it was too wordy, for the World's Fair question I put E. I still reserve this was right, because the other answers were awkward/didn't make sense.

guuuys i had writing experimental and did u guys have a section with a paragraph about organic food

@zenthyz: i don't remember any eyeglasses or lens. experimental prob

@upenn: iirc it was something like "The codfish lives", which is...singular...

I don't think I had an error in World's Fair. It was the last section so I was really bleary-eyed and confused after 4 hours of testing so idr.

@ zenthyz: i also put since, but i'm pretty sure it was experimental unfortunately.

why is everyone ignoring my question

sorry, it's addressed in the other post. organic is experimental.

i didn't have organic, but i did have helen of troy and giant tortoise....so which is experimental?
