January 2010 Critical Reading

I still think it’s hostility…

-0 so far too

Same here on both counts.

Was one of the fill in the blanks “fortuitous”?
about a selfish woman accidentally being generous or something :P

Also, where’s the writing thread?

Why? The author seemed very slightly hostile when he called the trend “troubling,” but holistically, the passage seemed more skeptical, especially by the end of it.

It was altruistic. It said that since she did the actions in her own self-interest it couldnt be considered ____.

-2 raw=-2. -3 raw=-4

I put skeptical because he asked a question about why would humor training help or something…

^^can someone answer my post (#304) please?

what was this question?

yes, altruistic and skeptical

I am too lazy search… does anyone remember something about emotions…mood with a biography?

It was SC I think.

Yes, it was definitely “altruistic.”

@ awesomemath: InvisibleMonster answered it for you.

**** ughhh i didn’t see the couldn’t
minus one already :(

Just remembered a sentence completion, for the one about the girl whose actions always produced good consequences, but she performed them out of self-interest, thus she could not be considered _______ ?

Edit: Altruistic was a choice right?

altruistic

On that note, what would be the difference between “ambivalence” and “skepticism”? I know ambivalence means having mixed feelings towards something, and skepticism suggests doubt, but I don’t know which one would ultimately be considered correct…

hey guys do you remember anything about the science passage? i thought it was hard, but can someone put up answers relating to that passage?

I think it was emotional/literal for the book/mood one.
