January 2010 Critical Reading

@ canbambiswim: I completely agree. However, I know I have an 800 on Math and most likely either an 11 or a 12 on my essay, so that helps a lot :smiley:

CR is pretty iffy, but W should be pretty solid.

@ fledgling: DAMN, my essay is sure to be pretty awfulā€¦

F:)ck yes, I agree with every single one of those, Jersey 13.

Gosh I wish I could find the passageā€¦

Haha Iā€™m dreading my math score. every year I realistically hope for an 800ā€¦every year my hopes are crushed by one or two stupid mistakes. :[

every YEAR?!?

and am i dead wrong on the steadfast analysis

I put faster travel and stealthy progress, darn those ambiguous SAT makers ):

Looking at a -3 for CR if those two are indeed the other answers

^^Yeah, the last 3 times Iā€™ve taken it Iā€™ve gotten either a 750 or 760 :[
judging by the answers posted on the math thread, I donā€™t have any wrong so far this year soā€¦Iā€™m crossing my fingers lol

and I think the general consensus is that steadfast was right

Jersey, are you 99% sure that those answers of yours are right?
What if we get our scores back and find out that you got some of them wrong.

@charizarrd
@canbambiswim

do you happen to remember the answer choices? :frowning: i canā€™t remmeber answering that questionā€¦ which is NOT GOOD!
thankyouuu

Wait, what was steadfast the answer to?? I canā€™t remember anything with steadfastā€¦

I agree with all of the answers on that list. Which do you disagree with?

lol I took the SAT for the first time and I think I did terrible on the CR section, not a native English speaker so that was one of the reasons.

which question kim?

the steadfast one was the one having to do with the firiends not letting their differences come between them

Does anyone know any key words for the scientist passage besides ā€œjigsaw puzzle.ā€ I really liked that piece (:D)? Thanks.

chibistar: are you a senior lol?

and also, i screwed myself over (again) because the way i do hard memorization is that i assign one word synonyms
in steadfastā€™s case

ā€œloyalā€

which may explain why i thought about the question in the way i did

in a way, exciting isntt wrong, but steadfast may be better

@ amaaayzing, I put ā€œfaster travelā€ and ā€œstealthy progressā€ too. Now if I could find the actual text, I could probably make an argument for my case, but itā€™s too unclear in my mind for me to be able to support it right now. Iā€™m just trusting that these guys are right.

HopefulEagle, whatā€™s the point of "what if"ingā€¦

ā€œsteadfastā€ can mean ā€œnot subject to change,ā€ which fits semantically, grammatically, and logically.

Silverturtle,

So that means whatever answers I had opposite than you guys mean that theyā€™re wrong?
