Anyone from Upstate/Central SC heard anything?
Thanks @Arrow12
@arrow12 thank you! thats such a relief
My daughter is in her interview as I type! Yikes!
Good luck! Please let us know how it went.
I have made it to the second round of interviews! I’m really excited. Does anyone have any tips for the second round?
Also, how many interviews are there total, and how many people per region can they select for selection weekend at UVa?
I’m a bit confused myself. I think how many interviews one has may depend on region? @mufasa1 what region are you in?
@luckymama64 how did your child say it went? Does your region pick someone from interviews to go to cville or are there more interviews? Thank you for any information.
The number of interviews depends on the region. I know for my region, Long Island, it is just one round of interviews in front of a panel of about 9 people. BTW, is anyone else going to the Long Island Interviews?
I had my first round interview yesterday. From Atlanta.
Son just received email this morning that he will be interviewed in Boston on 2/11.
i have my interview in boston on 2/11! any tips from kids already interviewed??
@hcmom65, She thought it went terrific, and she thoroughly enjoyed it. She had two panels made up of about 5 people each, and she met with each panel for about 20 minutes. I had a contact with a former regional committee member who said that they want to see the nominee’s thought process. They asked her open-ended questions. I know they asked her what she was currently reading and what her favorite book is. Also, nominees should expect to be able to say what they can bring to UVA. Good luck everyone. Fingers crossed!
They mentioned Jefferson Scholars Foundation is totally independent on UVA, but I’m concerned that panels would be disappointed if I say I didn’t apply to UVA.
@Motodile hey! I’m from Long Island! My interview is on February 4th at 12 PM. Is it really in front of nine people? Gosh, I might have a breakdown.
@rebecca12345 My interview is the same place and time lol! So looks like they’re gonna have everyone there at once. And yeah it’s in front of a group, which definitely seems a lot more nervewracking.
@Motodile no way! Haha that’s cool. I’m definitely gonna be nervous. I guess just remember to be yourself and show them why you’re awesome and would do great as a Jeff Scholar!
Also, what school are you from? You can DM me if you feel uncomfortable sharing it here. I’m just wondering if you’re from my area of LI lol
Everyone – write a handwritten thank you note to the chair of your regional committee. I might be preaching to the choir, but handwritten notes are impressive, plus, it puts your name before their eyes one more time!
I wonder since acceptances have gone out, the various committees will be sending notification soon about next step.?
Remember, admission and the Jeff Scholars process are completely separate. They don’t have access to our files and we don’t have access to theirs.
