Thanks everyone…they said it was an error…that she shouldn’t have gotten an email that is why the letter wasn’t there. Next day she got a letter in the mail that she made it to next regional interview. Hope you heard the same @LoyolaMD91
What’s the process for at-large? Does anyone know how many at-large prospective nominees are selected and when they find out?
I believe I remember reading that approximately 250 move on to the final interview in Charlottesville for the end of March . Approximately 2000 apply from all around the country . I know in the NYC area the email my daughter said that they will only choose 1 person to go to the final from the 40+ in the NYC area
@mammag, great news! My son advanced as well. Hope they both make it to Charlottesville!
@LoyolaMD91 Wonderful! So happy for your son! Yes…let’s hope they both go to Charlottesville!! Should be a great learning experience interviewing in front of 12 evaluators! Wow! Glad it’s not me! How many move on from MD region?
@mammag The initial interview letter said 12-16 would be called back for the second interview and three of those would go to finals. ?
We have not received any contact at all. I called the Jefferson scholar foundation and they said we would hear one way or another. We are in the “at large region” Any feedback or suggestions?
@mammag My son just received notification that he did not advance in Baltimore. He knew the interview did not go well after they asked a question that he perceived as very judgmental that completely threw him off his game. Hope your daughter fared better.
Does anyone have any interview advice/sample questions? Good luck to everyone!
@lemonstress23 are you asking about the one-on-one interview or the regional committee interview?
@LoyolaMD91 sorry that he didn’t move on to Charlottesville interviews. My daughter said it was tougher than the first round…that she had to think quickly on things that she hadn’t considered before then. Thanks so much for your well wishes…she is very happy to be advancing to the next round. Maybe they’ll both end up at UVA one way or another! Nice to chat and get the support from each other!!
@mammag Congrats to her! Good luck in Charlottesville. He will not be going to UVA - too expensive. This was his only shot.
Regional @bobsmithpi314
If you search “Jefferson Scholar” in the search bar here you can find old threads with lots of good sample questions.
Just found out I’m a finalist - would love to get in contact with others before the weekend!
Does anyone know if any scholarship is offered to the attendees to Charlottesville, that are NOT part of the final group? I’ve “heard” that those that attend the weekend, but are not chosen for the Jefferson Scholarship program/full-ride, may be offered a smaller scholarship. Just curious if previous attendees could speak to this.
Yes, I am very interested in STEMGirl19’s response as well.
Does anyone know the deadline for regional committees to submit finalist names?
My daughter had her final regional interview yesterday . And she hasn’t heard anything yet. We are in NY
final deadline to note finalists is feb 28 I think
