Just relax and be yourself. Next, you may want to think beyond the normal headlines for current events. A current event may be something going on that is current or possibly new in a field of study. They will not ask you questions about UVa. They want to know more about you, your views, interest, etc. Also, they see how you handle yourself in an interview situation. Jefferson Scholars represent the University on different levels and they are looking for individuals that are articulate and versed on different topics. As far as a person to meet, again think outside the box and what interest you. Are you into science? Who in the science world would you like to have a conversation? I do not know your interest, but this gives you an example. Also, certain questions are not posed because of political views, but because of leadership views, styles, etc.

You will be fine as long as you are yourself.

did anyone get invited to a regional open house? I got an email saying “This will be a casual event and will give you the opportunity to meet some of the committee members as well as current and former Jefferson Scholars in an informal setting and ask any questions you might have about the University and the Jefferson Scholar Program.” It’s two days before my regional interview and I was wondering if anyone else got invited to something else like this.

I also got invited, but I will not be going.
Creativecrew, what region are you? I also got invited for Tuesday evening and my interview is Sunday

Anybody heard about round 2 yet? Know the trimming process is highly selective so wondered who has been called back for 2nd interview. And do you know when they need to submit the region’s final 1 or 2 to headquarters?

In my region they had so many candidates that we had first interviews last weekend and will have 2nd interviews next weekend so they can pick the one they will send to the weekend at UVA. Not sure if every region has the same process.
