^Are you asking about Washington U’s name because you’re concerned about how it will look to grad schools? Or how it will look to employers?

I’m still confused. Berkeley’s in state tuition is about $11k per year. Add room and board and you’re looking at about $25k per year.

Are we comparing apples to apples? Is WUSTL’s cost per year the total cost?

Keep in mind if you’re using Berkeley’s suggested budget numbers, they are inflated.

Do you mean actually it costs less than they show on the website?
I am an international student and I am considering going to UCB. Their out-of-state tuition is really expensive…
ps: I will major in biochem too~

^ Hi Wendy. Out of state tuition is expensive and that price is essentially fixed. I was talking about Berkeley’s suggested budget numbers for housing, transportation, supplies, etc. I believe you can save yourself some money in those categories compared to what Berkeley has suggested.

Also, Berkeley biology, biochemistry, and chemistry departments are world renowned…moreso than UVAs programs. Since you’re international from China, I would choose Berkeley.

How do Wash U, JHU, and Cal’s name compare when it comes to employers/grad schools view of them? That’s kind of a stupid question because it obviously depends on the student, but ideas?
If Berkeley is inflated it can’t be by much, but I know that prices are continuing to rise…while Wash U will always be 25,000 per year.
