Jim Harbaugh seems unlikely, what's next?

I personally think Chip Kelly of Oregon, Bob Stoops of OK, and maybe even a second pitch to Les Miles would be viable options. Chip Kelly would be a great choice because he could help turn UM large yardage totals into POINTS and also we wouldn't have to go through another transition period i.e. Rich Rod, Bob Stoops FINALLY won a BCS bowl against Uconn and may be looking for a bigger challenge? Any other thoughts

I would agree with some of those that think it will be Brady Hoke.

Really? I think they will go with a bigger name

Chip Kelly will not leave Oregon… especially if they win on Monday!

I would hate to see Bob Stoops or Les Miles in Ann Arbor. I question their integrity. My first choice would be Jim Harbaugh because he is a Michigan man. My second choice would be Chip Kelly and my third choice would be Brady Hoke.

Although both Harbaugh and Kelly did great this year, they are head coaches of mid-level programs. Leaving for a program such as Michigan (one of the 5 most important football programs in the nation) would constitute the penicle of their coaching careers. Whether or not they wish to do so is another story altogether. However, a coach of their stature could lead Michigan on another golden era similar to the one Lloyd Carr enjoyed from 1994-2007.

Their decision to fire Rich Rod should come with a change away from the spread. I think it is in Michigan’s true nature to be a power pro style team and the new coach should reflect this.

Alex, have you seen the money Phil Knight (aka Nike) is pouring into Oregon? Gleaming facilities and winning are making for a recruiting bonanza. Oregon is going to be a top team in the Pac-12 for a while. Chip Kelly isn’t going anywhere.

Brady Hoke is also a “Michigan man”.

Michigan does not need a new head coach. It needs a defensive coordinator.

I would be fine with them hiring Randy Shannon as the DC. Just take the decision completely out of RRod’s hands.

Maybe rehire Ron English as DC, who knows.

A HC and his coordinators must have a good working relationship and see eye to eye.

Besides, RR’s offensice philosophy does not work in the Big 10. You need a reliable power-running game to complement the passing/option game. No matter how good DR is, without a strong, 20+ carries, 100+yards per game 200+ LBS bruising running back, Michigan will not be effective against the OSUs and Wisconsins of the world.

Like Brandon Minor … when he was healthy?

when Minor was healthy, he was a beast.

If this new coach can come in and convince Denard to stay, I will back that coach 100%
