I've read the website but want to know if this is something kids, families should attend or is it geared more for the admitted students that are sitting on the fence and have not committed yet?

I teach at JMU. There always seem to be a mix of students… those who have already decided to attend JMU, and those who are still deciding.

The information sessions are geared to provide information to both groups.

Thank you KatMT. I’ve read from your previous posts that you teach in the Music/Theater college.

Would you advise incoming freshman to attend? Is there an advantage to make early connections with other students/roommates?

Any parents of current students care to weigh in?

We’ve already visited and my S has accepted his admission.

Yes, I do teach in Musical Theatre/ Theatre. I think there are opportunities to make connections with other students and faculty. Look at specific dorms, learn about student services, etc…

In Theatre, Musical Theatre, and dance we have quite a bit of contact with admitted students, so I know that some who have already decided to attend are coming. They will also sit in on some classes, talk to curent students, etc…

This also looks like a good option for students: <a href=“CHOICES Admitted Student Open House - JMU”>CHOICES Admitted Student Open House - JMU;

JMU has extensive orientation programs in the summer, and right before classes start as well.
