JMU v. GMU

Hey Guys! Not sure where to post this so I figured maybe here would work...sorry if its in the wrong spot.

Today I was accepted to JMU having been deffered from EA. I was accepted to GMU EA, however JMU had always been my number one. However, i'm now having a difficult time deciding...

I'd be going as a Global Affairs major at GMU and an International Affairs major at JMU.
I feel that the only thing GMU has over JMU right now is their proximity to DC, and they may be slightly better in my major.

I've always felt more at home at Madison than Mason, and i've been to Madison a few times (i've visited both.) Madison always to me had the better "College Experience" and had everything I ever wanted...big state school, well known, parties, sports, good academics all around, slightly prestegious...etc.

I'm going to go revisit both, but does anyone maybe have any advice for when it comes down to two schools?

Your analysis is right for the most part. JMU is the more traditional undergrad school. Unless you plan on working or interning during the semester, the location won’t be a problem since you could still get a summer job in D.C. I’m not familiar with the international affairs programs, but GMU does have JMU beat in political science (US News '09) and is definitely stronger in economics. I’m pointing this out because those are two fields closely tied to international affairs and something you might consider minoring in.

You could have a good time at either school. GMU has good soccer and basketball teams and the games are fun to go to. If you’re looking to party, you could definitely do that too, with or without joining a fraternity/sorority. It’s mostly up to you to make the experience what you want it to be.

I know a lot of people at JMU and most really enjoy it. If I were you I’d go to JMU. Plus, If you want to party, JMU is a very good option.
