Job Prospects Are Dimming for Radiology Trainees

<p>norcalguy was posting a bunch about this when he was applying to rads residency last year. He didn’t really believe it was much of an issue if I recall.</p>

<p>Radiology is being hit with a 64% reduction in medicare payments over the next 5 years. Radiation Oncology down 18% and Cardiology down 16%. Income for Radiologists is going to decrease sharply. Competition for radiology residencies will decrease.</p>

<p>It is all cyclical. When there are no Radiologists to perform procedures like CT guided biopsies and the like, what will happen then? I feel very bad for those residents that had the rug pulled from under their feet.</p>
