Jobs that don’t look at a computer all day

Daughter did tell me that since moving to his new position, her BF is one level up in construction management and now doing mostly finance on the projects. He did do more site visits and hands on work before. I guess this is mixed news for someone wanting the action of construction management - you work yourself out of that job as you move up in your career and end up in a desk job. He’s 26 so didn’t linger in the ‘action’ part of the job.

To sum it up: you don’t want to look at a computer all day, you want to dress up nice to go to work, and you don’t want to work close with people. That’s going to be hard. Most jobs that require dressing up are either office jobs which use computers, or public facing jobs which require interfacing with a lot of people. The types of jobs that don’t require computers or dealing with lots of people are probably going to be more physical (doing things rather than heavy thinking) which tends to mean not dressing up. With the way you are describing what you like something is going to have to give.

I was thinking more about your situation and began wondering if there is anything that can be done to the computer to make it more comfortable for you. I know someone who is a lawyer who is blind. He spends most of his time on a computer but has special adaptations that allow him to use it. I obviously don’t know how bad your condition is, but if a blind person can use a computer all day, it seems you could find a way to do it. Are there special screens or filters that would help? I would talk to your doctor about ways to make this possible for you.
