Johns Hopkins or Georgetown for Humanities

Thanks everyone for your replies! rhg3rd, D decided some way down the road of the college application process that she would be happier in a larger school in an urban environment. Though the smaller liberal arts colleges would be excellent academically for all the programs she would like to pursue, she thought it could be stifling for her to be in a smaller, more protected environment for four years. The two choices that are most appealing to her from her acceptances are these two schools. Incidentally she was at JHU today and absolutely loved her visit. She would still get the intimate liberal arts experience within a larger research institution. And she will be off to Georgetown tomorrow for a revisit day.

Glad to know she liked SOHOP! We definitely worked hard to make sure everyone had a good time and it’s great to know our work paid off. Hopkins is an amazing school that is really what you make of it. Like you said, she would really get an intimate liberal arts feel within a larger community of various interests. And she does not need to limit herself to just the liberal arts part. I know several liberal arts majors taking intro level engineering and science courses, as well as going to science/math/engineering lectures, and vice versa. That’s honestly the beauty of Hopkins- the ability to experience areas of interest outside of your own major.
