Johns Hopkins University

I am an international student planning to apply to Johns Hopkins as an ED applicant. I have heard rumors about Johns Hopkins that there isn't much financial aid for undergraduate students.I contacted the admissions office but could not get satisfying response.I am from Nepal and I haven't heard of any Nepali student currently studying at JHU in undergraduate level. The application deadline is very near and I am still confused whether to apply to JHU or not. I am still skeptic about the matters regarding financial aid. If anyone has any piece of information, then please help!!

There IS, but extremely competitive.

JHU offers need-based scholarship around 25000$ to 10% of int kids, but you will need to be one of top students.
Also if you are not offered scholarship, you won’t get it in subsequent years as well.

What are your stats??

JH gives weak financial aid to domestic students, so as an international student, you’ll get even less.

@paul2752 My TOEFL score is 100. I have a GPA of 4.0 and I have taken SAT Reasoning test on Oct 11, just a week ago and I am expecting around 2000. I am among the top 5% in my class, but I am not involved in extra curricular activities like volunteering and leaderships.

APs…??I don’t think 2000 is enough for international student to compete in JHU. No ECs at all?
Without any EC, how are you going to show what you are passionate about?

I wouldn’t apply ED to JHU if you need financial aid. Which other schools are you considering?

Agreed.
Put some safeties like UA schools(UA being the best, UAH is slightly better in Engineering I heard) that give merit scholarships.

@paul2752 we don’t have things like APs in our country…but I have included list of ECs in my application and also sent my art supplement.Do you think art supplement may help?

I am considering Case Western Reserve University, University of Rochester, University of Miami, University of Southern California, Marquette University…

USC doesn’t offer financial aid for internationals.

yeah it does.

Too narrow focus on schools and you need put some safeties like UA as posted before

You really need to put safeties, otherwise you might wind up being accepted to nowhere.
2000 is in fact not even close to being competitive. Sorry,. but that’s the reality for international student, and it gets worse if you need money.

@paul2752‌ USC does NOT offer financial aid to international students! All they are eligible for are merit scholarships, but in order to be considered for those, they have to prove their ability to pay the full cost of attendance.

When I met yes it also included scholarships.sorry for the vaguity.

If you’re good at art, I suggest Carnegie Mellon, Vassar, Ithaca… And honestly 2000 is really not competitive enough for these top rate schools unless you have a hook like an internationally acclaimed…smth, or recruited athlete, amazing recommendations and essays and excellent ECs.

Forget about international aid with your score honestly. I’m also international without AP courses in school, but I self-studied them and took them. You have to do smth more to shine.
