Joseph Wharton Scholar vs Princeton?

Hi all i need some help here!

I am an international student and got into both places. I was pretty sure about going to Princeton because I got financial aid from P (almost full) but I didn't apply any from Penn. However, I just found out that I was invited to JWS yesterday. (I didn't see the links on the portal) so now i am shaking my mind again...

i don't know much about this scholar program, how valuable is it? It seems pretty special and i can get access to more resources. Does it worth $200,000? Paying full tuition is quite hard for my family, though we can manage somehow... i don't have a plan for my future. i'm quite interested in business, but not settled. I know Wharton is definitely 0 tier school for banking, but does going to Princeton gives equal advantages?

Any thoughts? Very appreciated.

Either school will put you places for business. Princeton is recruited like crazy just like wharton, so I don’t think you’d make a wrong choice by going to Princeton, especially if it’s free (or almost free). You also have to think about fit and where you think you’d enjoy yourself more. It seems like that was Princeton before the opportunity came your way.

谢婧你还是动摇了!!!

And as for your question – as far as recruitment is concerned, it goes something like this:

Harvard/Wharton

Princeton

rest

So yes, Wharton probably places more people on Wall St. than Princeton, if that’s what you were wondering. But ponder this:

Most people at Wharton have their entire careers planned out: what classes to take, what internships to do, where and when to get the first job etc., and among them, most want that job to be at Goldman. I’d imagine fewer at Princeton do, and among those who do, some prefer business, some prefer law/med, some want to pursue a phd and become a professor. So again: Yes, Wharton places “better” than Princeton on Wall St., but I’m not sure how much of that has to do with the school, as opposed to the kind of student body the school tends to attract.

If you are 100% settled on business, go to Princeton. You’ll save 200k for MBA (which is by no means a small amount), get a much more well-rounded liberal arts education, and land your first job at Goldman if you work/network hard (just like you would have to at Wharton). And if you are not 100% settled on business, WHAT ARE YOU SMOKIN’?!

Plus, Princeton is full of 高富帅 and 白富美, whereas Wharton is filled with ******bags and people who transferred internally (because they didn’t have the grades/guts to apply to Wharton before).

What exactly is a Joseph Wharton Scholar? Do benefits come with it?

^ It’s basically an honors program in Wharton for people with an interest in the humsnities. They have access to special honors classes, I believe.

take full tuition from P, are you crazy? Wharton is not worth 200000 over Princeton, NO WAY! TAKE THE MONEY

Oh, I didn’t see the bit about the full ride at Princeton. Haha are you crazy OP? Penn’s a good school and all, but I don’t think you can turn down Princeton when they’re giving you a full ride and Penn is giving you jack squat.

I agree with the Princeton choice if nothing else changes in the OP’s finances. Effectively full ride at Princeton versus nothing/? at specialty program within Wharton. Seems like a no brainer to me — got to go with Princeton.
