Journalism Schools

LSU has a pretty top knotch journalism program.

thanks for everything! the one concern i have is that all those schools you have advised seem to be quite challenging to get it …
briefly my stats look like this:
3.6 UW GPA, 28 ACT, numerous AP classes as well as one college class, 200 + community service hours, officer of executive board all 4 years, editor-in-chief of school newspaper, NHS,etc, etc, etc.
additional comments, thoughts, advice would be appreciated

You can def. get into some of those schools. NYU’s average GPA is a 3.6 so you can keep it and USC isn’t that far from it. I would suggest these schools for your profile and you should be able to get into some of them:

Mizzou
Syracuse
NYU
USC
IU- Bloomington
U Ohio
Ithaca College
American
George Washington
Boston U
Arizona State University
Suny Purchase

alright … greatly appreciated … but which would you say are match, high reach, etc just so i can get a little more of an idea of what i’m getting myself into and which i should actually consider applying to. colleges with good financial aid and scholarships would be very helpful as well, unforunately money trees aren’t growing in my back yard /:

Those are good enough grades to get into U Colorado, then you can work hard to get into journalism school.

Also, the student paper is open to non-journalism students. Many pre-j majors start there to keep their hand in it.

Sure I’d be glad to do that for you, just to let you know I’m not an expert so I’m going by research.

Mizzou- Match/Safety, you should be able to get into the school itself. I don’t know if you can go straight to the j school, you need a certain SAT/ACT score and you have to be like top something percent of your class.

Syracuse- Match, you can get into the school overall easily but it’s harder to get into the journalism school. I’m not sure and need more research.

NYU- Match/Reach, it can go either way. Not great with aid though.

U Co- I don’t know much about it.

USC- Low Reach

IU- Safety (you should get GREAT AID and try for the Honors Program)

U Ohio- Safety (good aid)

Ithaca- Safety (some aid)

American- Not sure, but should be a match

George Washington- It goes about where NYU and USC is, either way.

Boston U- Match, I think you would get in.

Arizona State- Huge Safety and they have a program where you can get a BA/MA in 4 years it’s really cool.

Purchase- Safety.

You have a lot of safety/match schools and you should get good aid. You may want to add Northwestern (HUGE REACH), UNC- Chapel Hill (REACH), U Maryland (Reach/Match) and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (Reach?). As I said I’m not positive it’s just my input, please if anyone things anything is wrong please tell the OP.

thank you very much! finally some feedback…

Your so welcome, hoped I helped!
