Jumping back in..

So I was one of the first–or first to start this discussion and haven’t been back lol. Time got away from me but I have a good excuse. We moved from California to Texas (where we’ve lived before) and now my daughter is going from a small all girls Catholic school to a huge public school in a large west Houston suburb. Hopefully the shock won’t be too much, she’s been a student in the district before so she’s used to the large sizes etc. Anyway it’s the first day tomorrow and I’m going to try and be better about logging in and checking discussions. Happy sophomore year!

Have you and she checked on the new high school’s class ranking method to see if it disadvantages sophomore transfers, and whether other students are doing odd things to game the system for a higher rank? Some of the stories on these forums about cutthroat rank-gaming in Texas high schools are rather unsavory.

Thank you!! I know all about that, we’ve lived in Texas before–it’s a nightmare in our district. My philosophy is we can’t worry about it- the stress, anxiety etc is to much for her (and me).
