June 2010 ACT Results

That is completely false.

Certain states have their own administrations of the test, so there will obviously be different curves there since they are different tests, but the June test will have the same curve nationwide.

@ NewAccount

Thank you, and I am happy to be able to help.

Your curve estimates seem spot-on; I was simply guessing on the reading portion based off of my subscores (since 17 and 17 would usually add to a 34, both must be rounded up to a 17). Are the subscores (1 - 18) “raw” or scaled scores like the overall section score? Because I just assumed they were more or less proportional to the score you got on that subsection, rounded to the nearest number. At the time of my first post I didn’t know that the subcategories were 20 questions each. This was probably my mistake.

Four questions incorrect could possible correspond to my 33 in Reading (+2 curve?). I would doubt any more than this though, since the 17 + 17 would cease to make sense, unless I’m missing something important.

I thought the online score wouldn’t come out until Monday instead of Sunday…

no it comes out monday online, he got his scores in the mail early

Wait- how are people receiving their scores already???

by mail, read the thread…

Just got by mail, not online yet:

36 - Composite

36 - English (18/18)
36 - Math (17/18/18) [kicking myself on that one point, but it didn’t matter]
35 - Reading (18/17) [also kicking myself on that point]
36 - Science

Super pumped about this. Got two 34s before.

just so everyone knows… subscores do not add up to equal your scaled score… So if you are trying to calculate the curve based on your sub scores that isnt going to work

Keep in mind that 1 wrong could still be an 18 subscore, etc.

smallfry, GREAT score!!! what state do you live in?

Doesn’t smallfry’s post confirm that there is a one point curve in math (as in, 59/60 yields a 36)? Because one of his subscores is 17. If he had gotten every question right, then all of his subscores should have been 18.

Indeed, it does.

People said that scores would be available online at 1AM eastern on sunday, but the website says that scores will be released June 28th. Can someone please clarify?

The scores will be available 1 AM EST on Monday the 28th (but since it’s the summer, most people tend to just stay awake until that time to check their scores, and the day they stay up on is Sunday. That’s why there may be a little confusion).

I’m not being selfish, why does it matter to know the curves? Is it that Important? You get your score, and that’s your score. People take this test as if it’s… life changing. I mean it’s a test. It doesn’t mean you will fail at your life. Just wait until people post their scores, 30 +. I’m just saying it’s sad to have to go to the internet and tell random strangers your score . Does it make you stand out? I don’t know. I just find the … " I got a 35!!!" pointless.

Well it’s sort of important to me because I’m trying to determine whether I still have a chance for a 36 or not. The fact that one wrong gets you a 36 in math helps because I had one wrong in that section.

^ I am in the same situation.

This is CC. If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

1AM on Sunday is the 27th, not the 28th. The scores will be released at 1AM eastern time on MONDAY morning. When you call someone an idiot, first check to see if you’re right and then check your grammar.

Good luck todo el mundo! :)
