**June SAT U.S. History Post Test Discussion**

I’m pretty sure it was Portugal. The question asked first systematic voyages and the new world war found be Amerigo or something like that who was portugese. Columbus came afterwards.

you know for the portugal vs spain on the who is the first european nation to lead the systematic voyages

isn’t that portugal??

I got this from wiki :

The Portuguese began systematically exploring the Atlantic coast of Africa from 1418, under the sponsorship of Prince Henry, reaching the Indian Ocean by this route in 1488. In 1492, racing to find a trade route to Asia, the Spanish monarchs funded Christopher Columbus’s plan to sail west to reach the Indies by crossing the Atlantic. He landed on an uncharted continent, then seen by Europeans as a new world, America.

jkivyleague- the questions asked about the first to colonize the AMERICAS, which was Spain.

@ cold flame yea
:D

practical- are you sure you are talking about the same question cuz I never saw americas in that question… O.o

No, it wasn’t Americas, I think it was just start systematically seafaring in general… Even if it was Americas, I think portugal was first to find the new world…

I mean then it has to be portugal … -_-

No, the question asked which was first to colonize Americas? The answer to that question was Spain.

No, it had nothing to do with colonizing the Americas. It was asking which was the first to systematically explore or something like that…

yea it didn’t even have america in it … O.o i think you guys are confusing that question with the florida one …

The colonizing americas question is the florida one. you’re getting it confused.

You’re telling me there was a question that asked which country was the first to colonize the world? Wouldn’t that be a world history question?

well don’t ask me … ask collegeboard -__-

can anybody remember what the actual question was ???

100% sure practical that it didnt say colonize. The systematic voyage is much closer. I feel like it didn’t say America, but in fact the new world, actually writing this i feel certain.

Yeah I think it was systematically explore because I remember putting Spain and then thinking wait no no no it was Portugal! I don’t remember anything about colonies being in the question.

I know right which means that portugal has to be the first one to start systematic voyage …

anyone remember the 1920 economy question I think i put old machines were replaced by electrical machine … it was an except question

If it said systematically explore the new world, then the answer would still be Spain.

what were the other choices for catherine stowe question??

how come??? portugal had earlier systematic exploration oversees
