<p>By the way, how accurate are the Sparknotes practice test? Do they resemble actual test questions?</p>

Explanation</p>

<p>Washington opposed the development of political parties because he feared that they would weaken and even destroy the government. The framers of the U.S. Constitution likewise considered political parties unnecessarily divisive, and so intentionally left them out of their plan for the new nation. Note that C is true because Republicans gained support for their party primarily through the use of the publication The National Gazette.
