Getting D to & from school will be an issue and I'll check with the school if she gets in. Hopefully new friends will come through for her. I'd think that a school trying to build a national reputation will have thought through some of those issues.

My other D. goes to a rural school and they have a shuttle that goes to the 2 closest big airports which are 4/5 hours away. Kids who live in those cities also take the shuttle, and are picked up by family at the airport.

There is a closer airport (45 minutes away) that is smaller and my D, who has a car, has taken and picked up friends.

BTW, nothing yet in the mail....maybe Monday?? The website said letters would go out on the 25th.

I found this on the Juniata student Job postings, so they have something. I'm just not sure which airports they transport to. I'll keep checking...

Oh that sounds wonderful, 2gone12go. Thanks for posting.
Hope you get a fat envelope from them tomorrow.

It came!!!!! She got the big envelope and a 12,000 per year merit scholarship. I intercepted the mail, drove her blindfolded to her favorite restaurant and put the envelope on the table. She is so excited!! She has been accepted to more selective schools but there was something about Juniata that just felt right to her. I can see her happy there and most importantly, she sees herself there. She wants to send the acceptance right away but we want her to sleep on it a few nights.

Most special: The admissions counselor called her at home to congratulate her. We weren't home to get the message but she will call him in the morning.

Does your D, have any strong feelings about a school?

2gone12go, Congratulations on your D's acceptance and her wonderful merit scholarship! Sounds like the 2 of you had a fun evening! May ask you what gpa they require to keep the scholarship, and do they give you 2 semesters to get that gpa? Thanks.

It didn't specify in the letter, so I'm not sure. It said $48,000 over 4 years. The letter also stated that other financial aid offers will be coming. This is important as she will be our 3rd in college next year. YIIKES!!

Yikes is right! Thanks for getting back.

I am from southern caliifonia and im interested in juniata bc of their premed prowess, willingness to give merit scholarships, and their intro in " colleges that change lives". It sounds like a pretty good place.
However, I wonder what kind of social environment do they have? Are the students close with each other? The profs? In not the partying kind, so are there lots of activites?
Also, I know I shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but juniata's viewbook was kind of underwhelming . The campus looked like a high school and the viewbook itself and the charcteristics described were not very impressive. I worry about a school whose advertisemnt is of this kind of quality.
I dont have the oppotunity to visit, so I wonder if someone who has firsthand knowlege can offer some insight as to how juniata's really feels? Thanks!
