Though you may hear students gripe about Juniata's rural location or lack of weekend options, overall, Juniata provides its students with a fulfilling, four-year undergraduate experience.

In terms of diversity, though Juniata has not always been known for having a diverse student body, the college has really made strides in the past few years to change that. Not only do you see different ethnicities on campus, there are also a ton of international and exchange students. Overall, Juniata does a better job than most schools with incorporating their international students into the social/campus scene. Students here are generally accepting of differences, though like in the real world, like sticks to like.

The volleyball teams, the field hockey team, and the basketball teams are draws for many students who attend sporting events. Several teams on campus are division champions/have great records. For those who want to play a sport in college but cannot necessarily play Division 1, Juniata offers a wide variety of sports teams to participate in.

The academics are challenging, especially for those who are bio majors. The courseload is 5 courses a semester, more than many other liberal arts colleges (average 4 classes a semester). However, the professors here are generally very helpful and are genuinely concerned with how their students are doing. If you are looking for party school, Juniata is not for you. It's not uncommon for some students to stay in to study instead of going out; however, there are nightlife options.

There are several bars in the area for those of age, and East dorms always have something going on during the weekends. My motto these past four years (I'm a senior) is to work hard and play hard. I make sure my gpa stays high, but I also make sure to have fun and really enjoy my overall college experience.

I am a Communication and Management POE, and I know that the majority of liberal arts colleges do not offer a Communication department, something that attracted me to Juniata. I might be biased because my dad is a professor here, but I am truly glad that I've had the opportunity to study a subject I am interested in/passionate about, and I look forward to continuing a career in Communication-related fields in the future.

In general, the campus atmosphere is laidback and welcoming. Though the town surrounding Juniata, Huntingdon, is very small and rural, people are generally friendly and the town is safe. My only regret is perhaps not choosing a college closer to a city, but I've made up for that by interning/working in Washington DC the past two summers. Overall, I feel that Juniata has prepared me well for the graduate schools I am applying to, and I do not regret coming here at all.
