Your SAT scores are low. The ERW score is below the 25th percentile (only 13.6% of first years entering this past fall had a score between 600-699) and math is right at the 25th percentile. A 3.7 UW GPA is probably also low unless that still puts you in the top 5% of your class. The other legacies you will be compared against for the most part will have have higher objective stat’s, so unless your dad is a consistent and significant donor, you will compare poorly against most other legacies.

Unlikely, as Yale Linguistics is more about exploring the nature and structure of language, rather than learning specific language(s).
"The major in Linguistics offers a program of study leading toward an understanding of phonological, grammatical, and semantic structure and of various approaches to descriptive, experimental, and historical linguistics.
Majors may concentrate on theoretical, experimental, or computational linguistics, on various aspects of comparative grammar, or on a particular family of languages. The study of language builds on a range of disciplines that Linguistics majors are encouraged to explore. Interested students should consult the director of undergraduate studies.
Courses in anthropology, biology, cognitive science, computer science, mathematics, philosophy, and psychology can inform and contribute to a student’s major program."
@llllak400 Enjoy your junior year and keep up the good work. To get into Yale, you need some good luck because admissions this year were the luck of the draw in some cases. Demonstrated interest is huge, getting your SATs up is worth a round of serious studying and maybe some tutoring this summer before retaking the exam. You will need to guard against falling into the hysteria and pressure cooker-like atmosphere the Ivy admissions game. I suggest you make this your last “chance” post. After all, no one can tell what lays ahead with any certainty, yet there is a good certainty you could get unnecessarily stressed out by listening to the responses of anonymous posters trying to assess your chances of admission. You have better things to do, right? Best of luck to you.
Honestly the most predictable way to get into a top school like Yale is the athletic route. The coaches are very explicit in what they are looking for. This is much more predictable than the holistic roulette wheel.
Start by learning what Yale wants. Not just the focus on what you want.
Scores below the preferred threshold. Nothing you’re telling us to overcome that. It matters what courses brought down the gpa. Honor society isn’t considered a weighty EC. Etc.
