Junior in high school with hopes for cornell

As I mentioned in the title, I'm a junior in high school with high hopes for Cornell. My GPA is AWFUL. Weighted it's a 3.6. My ACT scores are decent- 32. I'm retaking my SAT's and I'm taking SAT2's in Physics and Math II. My dad went to Cornell so I have legacy there. I didn't really get my act together until this year in high school... my GPA for this year is something like an 4.1 I don't know how much of a difference it will make that I did well one year. I have taken all honors classes and this year I'm taking AP Stats, AP Physics and AP US. I'm also taking Pre-Calc Honors and English Honors along with Spanish. I got accepted to Cornell Summer College and I'm taking a College reading and writing class there over the summer... I'm also taking an international relations class. Last summer, I spent 6 weeks in Ecuador doing community service projects. I write for the school's math magazine and I am an editor for the school's literary magazine. I also am a Peer leader- a part of the World of Difference program I talk to kids about stereotyping and racism. I intern at the congressman's office and I have been playing piano for the last 7 years. I also take art. I wanted to ED Cornell but if I don't really have a shot... I don't want to use my ED on a school I won't get into... If you guys think I have no shot... I'll probably ED Barnard or NYU or possibly a good school that isn't on the northeast since I'm from the northeast and it heightens my chances of getting in somewhere in the midwest or the south. I know I can probably get into Bing and Geneseo... if I keep a great GPA there do you think I could transfer to Cornell? Is it possibly I'll receive a guarantee transfer? Thank you so much for your feedback!

What is your gpa unweighted? Legacy helps, but to a certain point. Remember that Cornell sees all SATs and ACTs you’ve taken so don’t do them over and over and over. If you get all A’s this year it would definitely help with the gpa situation. If you write excellent essays and have amazing recs you have a shot… But you seriously have to work your butt off for that higher gpa. They look at grades from your first semester as a senior as well. Also it depends on what college you will apply to at Cornell. Some are easier to get into than others, as in you don’t need a super high gpa for some.
