Schools I am looking at:
Duke
Tufts
Emory
Colgate
BC
Northeastern
Lafayette
UMass Amherst
UNH

Any suggestions for schools that are either in a city or in a suburban area close to the city. And any advice in general.

Also is there any place to explain unfortunate family problems/situations on the application(s) other than in your essay.

Sorry for so many questions-oldest child and I have no idea what I am doing.

Thanks :)

If you can get your SAT score up another 100-150 points, I think you should be in good shape for most schools that you listed.

Duke and Tufts seem kind of iffy; especially Duke which frequently steals students from schools like Stanford and the Big H. I'm not familiar with the others honestly.
