I’m terribly confused about what major to pursue. I went to community college my first two years and then transferred to a bigger university and had filmmaking as my major. I didn’t enjoy it like I thought I would, and now I’m heading into my second semester of my junior year and have no idea what to take. I’ve signed up for a business class because I think if I get a degree in anything it might as well be something useful like that. I kind of want to take other classses next semester to possibly find something that interests me. I’m a good student and have the next three semesters of college tuition paid for if I keep my grades up, so I’m not hurting COMPLETELY throwing away money by doing that.
So are you just venting? Or did you have some kind of question in mind?
Business sounds good. I majored in Economics and now I’m doing Software Engineering for my first job out of college. I don’t think you can go wrong with either a Business or an Engineering degree in college.
@HDMADCK - How do you land an engineering gig with a non-engineering degree? I’m genuinely curious because that’s really interesting!
Software engineering is a bit of a different animal than the standard idea of an engineering job. Often, the terms software engineer, software developer, and programmer are used to describe very similar computer programming positions. If he/she had a lot of programming experience and skills, it’s very feasible. Positions in CS also tend to be fairly open to people with non-CS degrees.
@nanotechnology Ohhh, I see! That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.
