junior year- getting ready for college

Hey guysss! I'm gonna be a junior pretty soon and this is the time I should be thinking about colleges and what I want to major in.
But that's the problem..i honestly have NO IDEA what I want to be yet or what I'm interested in. I'm leaning towards the medical area but still no firm stance.

While I have been getting pretty good grades in school (straight A's and 3rd in rank) and in a few clubs but I don't think I stand out and isn't that what colleges look for?

So basically my question is, do good grades and a good college essay make up for extracurriculars? Or should I be getting more involved right now?

Just get involved with things you enjoy. If you’re interested in anything to do with the medical world, try getting involved with health or medical clubs in your school. For example, my school has an health club, but it’s more for people interested in becoming doctors or nurses after college than actually learning about health. We have a club dedicated to people who want to become doctors, and so on. If there’s nothing like that in your school, see if there are any volunteer opportunities at a local hospital or even an elderly or rehabilitation center.

Don’t overload yourself junior year. It’s just not worth it in the long run. Join things that coincide with your interests. Since I’m a senior who’s going through the college process now, I can’t really answer your question about whether or not a good essay and good stats make up for extracurriculars. Yes, colleges want dedication to SOMETHING, so why don’t you start dedicating your time to something you really enjoy or one of your interests?

I hope that helped you out in some way!
