I’m currently a sophomore and I’ve having a bit of a dilemma concerning my Jr year schedule
So far I have:
AP Lang (0 hr)
AP Calc BC
AP Biology
Honors Spanish 5-6
Junior Company Dance
APUSH
AP Physics 1 (no AP test though)
So the physics teacher at my school sucks, but I would still like the credit on my transcript. I’m not sure if I should switch out AP phys out with AP Chem (a great teacher.) It would just be more work and an extra AP test to deal with. Should I keep it as is, or switch out AP phys?
Also, on a scale of 1-10 (10 being super rigorous) what would you rate this?
With Chem - 12
With Physics - 9
Can’t you just take chem as a sr? Chem and Bio together may send you over the edge.
Can you take Physics or Chem as an honors class, then take the AP class senior year?
This is too many APs - how many did you take this year and how well did you do?
You definitely don’t want AP Chem the same year as AP Bio.
This is really interesting because in our school we HAVE to take the honors class before any of the AP classes. Ex freshman bio, honors chem, then junior year choice AP bio, AP chem, or honors physics, then senior year any of the APs. Sadly no doubling up on subjects either.
AP Chem is the hardest in our school. AP Bio is memorization, and APUSH is a memorization/thinking class. Only 20 students take AP Chem vs 50 in AP Bio, so that shows rigor.
How many AP’s did you take this year? If you didn’t take any, taking 5 of them is a stretch, unless you took the pre-AP classes or honors.
@penngirlpending @MYOS1634 freshman year, I self studied ap psych (5) and this year I’m taking APES and APWH. I’ve already taken honors bio and and I’m in honors chem right now. I think the general consensus is taking bio+chem concurrently would probably be a bit much.
Definitely do not try to take AP Chemistry and AP Biology both in the same year. I would take AP Chem senior year.
Don’t take AP Chem and AP Bio same year. Both classes demand frequent studying and come tests, complete or at least under complete knowledge of conceptions. AP Lang is dependent on how much of a good writer you are. If you’re a good writer (and your current English teacher agrees with you) take AP Lang. Many students in my class are poor writers and suffer greatly grade-wise. APUSH is reading intensive and much more detailed than WHAP, as you focus on ONE country and its interactions and inner issues/workings.
I dont know what “0 hr” means for AP Lang but your schedule is a 10-11 in terms of rigor.
