Just a Little Poem I Wrote...

<p>I feel like especially nowadays with resume "puffing," this rings too true...</p>

<p>Come on, Shout!
Throw your chest out!
Show those colleges what you’re all about!
Tell them what exactly you’re made of
What tricks you have up your glove
So it is YOU they will love.
Do it all to impress
The people who assess
Whether you’re good enough to get a yes
So all the good you do
is not for you
But for THEM.</p>

<p>So they will smile at you kindly
And open their gilded doors.
Because you had 210 hours of service
Rather than the other guy
Who had 209.</p>

<p>(Just FYI, they don’t actually ask for volunteer hours. They ask what your different ECs were and how much time you spent on them. Volunteering can be part of that, but it doesn’t have to be.)</p>
