Hey Guys, I'm new to the forums, and I just can't seem to find anything to do to pass the time while I am waiting to hear back from colleges. I figured that this would use up some time and maybe give me some info on my chances. Anyways here is my general info, I may forget some ec's, and such.

Rank is close to the top, but I don't know the exact number
GPA(Unweighted) - 3.96
ACT - 35
SAT - 2250
SATII - Math I - 760 Math II - 800 Physics - 800
AP- somewhere around 14 by the end of this year all 4's and 5's as of now.

EC's
I am an avid chess player and close to the top 100 for 17 year olds. I am captain and first board of my school's team.
Captain of mathletes
Captain of Debate with various awards
Captain of brainstormers (quizbowl team)
Research - I have worked with two different researchers over the past two years in bio informatics, but I don't have any abstracts or anything like that.
Every weekend I work at my local religious school as a teachers assistant.

My rec's are pretty strong and I also have strong supplemental rec's.
I am interested in math and physics, and looking to attend a top university( Ivy's, MIT, Duke, Chicago, etc) if possible. What do you guys think my chances are?
If there is any other info that would help you guys give me an accurate depiction of my chances let me know.

I agree. And I think you're the kind of person MIT is looking for, if you're into the techy school (which I would imagine you are! :) ) I love physics, btw:D I would say you're chances are excellent everywhere. But that's just my impression, alas.

Thanks for the positive comments guys. My only worry at MIT is that I hear they hold intel and other research awards extremely highly and without them it is very tough to get in. Think the lack of those will hurt me a lot? And we do need a physics thread!

My friend got in without any of that stuff. I think it really depends on the person, and since you show potential as well as a certain amount of accomplishment, I wouldn't worry about it.

hey, thanks for chancing me, i sorta fell asleep last night
You have a great shot at each. MIT is pretty much a crapshoot once you reach a certain level in eccs, academics, etc. You're at that level in my opinion. It's pretty much the essays that'll make it count.
Duke and chicago are in i think; the lower tier of ivies such as cornell, brown, etc. should be in as well. The harvard, princetons, and MITs are gonna be the 50/50s.
The one thing i know for sure is you're gonna get into a great college and have a great next 4 yrs :) Good luck!
