Just another Ivy League Chance Me...please :)

It seems like a decent shot, especially since you are out of a rural area. Maybe I will see you in 2 years. haha :)

You can’t manage 9 APs in one year.
Physics and Bio in same year?
Fail.

Add Euro and Psych and two Government APs??
This is impossible.

Have fun at HOBY! It’s a great experience!

Thanks lebronjames but then what AP tests should I cut out? I don’t really want to cut out any because they’re all unique and interesting in their own way but in your opinion what would be the ones to cut out next year?

Thanks tcwest…I hope so too!!! Haha they should have a CC secret meeting at all of the Ivy League schools… We could start a new tradition  haha not really but it would kinda be cool

Hi YellowDaisies and thanks for chancing me :)

Anyways, first thing to point out, that’s quite a load of AP’s and your 4.0 GPA and rank 1 shows you’ve done really well on all of them! That’s also diverse list of EC’s but like you mentioned for me, you need a stronger focus. I see a concentration on academics, economics, and biology, but perhaps you could focus on one over the next few summers and make it really significant. I applied to NIH this year and I didn’t get in. Maybe they’re very competitive or its just me.

You have a great start. Let’s hope you get that NHS and Decathlon leadership positions you want!

@ yyphgniph…awesome thank you! Aw sorry about the summer programs!! I know how disappointing that is. I got rejected from HSHSP this summer. Thanks again!

Thanks everyone for your help. I’ve compiled a list of things that people think I need to improve just for anyone in the future who reads this (I know “Chance Me” threads of other people have helped me figure out what’s good):

Get a good SAT II Scores (esp Math II)

Get an SAT Score about 2200 (though I’m aiming for +2300)

Have focus

Self-studying the APs? Can I do them? (I think I will be able to because I love doing that, I had very little problem s-s 3 this year + a class although I didn’t start until like a month before, and I’m starting early this year…if I do cut out one it will be either AP World History or Comp Gov)

Get those leadership positions (I’m pretty confident I will get what I have listed)

Thanks everyone and if anyone has anything to add to that list I would definitely appreciate it!!! :)

I would strongly advise you not to self study physics b if you are taking pre-cal over the summer. physics b requires a very good understanding of upper level math and it will be extremely difficult for you to do well on without a) honors physics b) trig based math.

^ Does not PreCalc contain trig? I thought it did…

And also, I am taking Calculus next year as well as an extremely intense Physics Class (it just does not have the name Honors)

Thanks for your advice!! I know that one will be the hardest to s-s but I am interested in the sciences for my college major and right now my AP classes are heavily humanities… Plus I was considering taking the two Physics Cs as my independent studies senior year…

But now I’m getting ahead of myself. Is PreCalc over the summer and Calc during the school year + an intense Physics Class during the school year + reading of several prep books enough to get me a 5 on Physics B?

^ Yes, precalculus does contain trig.

A lot of it depends on YOU and the “intense” physics class.

^ So then what was theblusrstillblu meaning by that?

Ops meant to put ^^

Bump… Any other advice :)?

You guys have been a huge help!! I was just wondering if there were anymore comments :)

Bump… Last time and then I’ll let this thread die :)

You’ll do just fine. Keep up the grades- junior year is harder than you think it will be.

^ So true.

Updated List

Get a good SAT II Scores (esp Math II)

Get an SAT Score about 2200 (though I’m aiming for +2300)

Have focus

Get those leadership positions (I’m pretty confident I will get what I have listed)

Keep good grades Junior Year

Thanks everyone and if anyone has anything to add to that list I would definitely appreciate it!!!

Mentioning focus…I was under the impression that premeds had a harder time getting into ivy league schools bc soooo many biology majors are applying, so the whole econ thing might make you stand out.

Or am I mistaken on this?
