Just beginning to look at colleges. What colleges are realistic?

Caucasian, Jewish

I am currently a junior at the top public school in Connecticut. I got a 3.4 GPA freshman (I know I should have taken it more seriously). I got a 3.65 GPA sophomore year. Almost a semester into junior year I have a 3.9 GPA. If I could keep this up, I would have a 3.65 GPA through all of high school.

I take 1 AP with 1 honors class this year and plan on taking 3 next year. I havent taken an official ACT yet, but ive gotten around 27 on practices and am getting a tutor and assume I could get it up to an 30/31.

I play tennis for my School. I am part of a club which plays music for senior citizens and one that preaches to prevent bullying (which I will be president for). I also am part of a group which goes to elementary schools in my town and teaches then about bullying.

I am really just beginning to look at colleges and am not sure what one are realistic.
I am interested to go to a bigger school that isn't a city school. School's such as Michigan or USC would be perfect but im not sure if my grades are good enough to get in. Michigan loves kids from my school though and had accepted over 65% over the last three years.

What schools should I look at? When should I think about visiting school?

you should be visiting schools now (as soon as colleges resume in the spring) and have everything ready to go by the beginning of senior year. SAT,ACT, look for teachers to write recommendations, arrange for summer internship NOW, write essay over summer, write resume, and then you just have to wait for common app to go live and HS to send transcripts, so YOU can enjoy your senior year. While you are visiting colleges, always arrange an interview while you are there. They are good practice and in the event you decide to apply, your interview is already done. Good luck!

BU, Penn State, basically schools in the 50 ranked range and below on US News.
