I’m in the same pickle right now. Cornell CoE is my dream school and I’m torn between whether I should still apply ED or retake the Math2 and hope to get in RD. Not sure what holds more weight, hearing mixed opinions.
Your Lit score is not bad. Recommended means required for upper middle class students. You have a minuscule chance of getting into Princeton or Columbia, and even lower without the required tests. I would move those to RD for the lottery app and apply early to every other school you can.
If you read the Harvard threads about the lawsuit you can see how really tiny a chance unhooked standard great students have at these schools.
@Jleto18 I agree with you that Columbia does not weight subject tests as highly as Princeton. Like @theloniusmonk, I think you should consider applying Columbia ED, retake subject tests and apply Princeton RD. Your sat subject tests scores will not help your Princeton SCEA app, and would likely even be a disadvantage…why increase the risk of getting denied coming out of SCEA?
I would hope switching your ED school at this point would not be much of a problem with your GC. Regarding self-study on the subject tests, you can do practice tests in any of the commercially available books (your library may have them) and also practice problems at Khan Academy.
Yeah you should apply ED to Columbia, it will increase your chances for sure, and retake the subject tests for Princeton and others in the RD round.
I thought you couldn’t apply to other schools EA if you want to EA Princeton because that’s a single choice ea school right? Correct me if I’m wrong
I would send in lit, but not math. The literature test is known to be difficult, whereas 800s on the MathII are very common. I think I sent two subject tests to Princeton, one being lit with a similar score as yours, and I was at least waitlisted.
