As one of the fellow writer-sporadic income parents its also worth noting you can revise any part of your pfs up until the due date and it will update automatically at all the schools. Is Putney School in VT the one with no grades? Also very arty and outdoorsy.

We are also both self-employed which made it a little trickier to accurately answer some questions - there is a supplemental form for people who own their own businesses that helps clarify the $$ and we were asked for extra tax return years by at least one school due to fluctuating income. Unfortunately for us we applied on a “good year” and our figures painted a little rosier picture than an average year - if you can hold off on receiving that next advance until after march I would do so.

Yes, it’s Putney. Another parent PMed me that name yesterday. I’m technically not a business owner so I didn’t pursue that section of the PFS, but I noticed that putting the information down as asked didn’t show that the checks I receive are minus my agent’s 15% commission.

I don’t think its necessary to show your agents commission since it was taken out before you were paid so technically its not earned income. You could put down the total advance and then deduct the fee as an expense but most likely you would end up in the same place?

Proctor parent here - also applied/accepted to many of the schools (Putney, VA) mentioned above. Based on what you’ve written, it would be a great fit for your son.

I would DEFINITELY make the drive for the tour/interview especially since you are looking for FA. We just did the trip from NJ for the 3rd time this semester!

Feel free to PM me with any questions.
