Just found NCF

and it seems like a good match for my son except that it is SOOOO far away. WA to FL is a hike

Questions for those who have visited or who attend.

How safe is the campus? Son would be coming from a very small town.

How is the math curriculum and how large are these classes? the math faculty looked very prestigious

How about comp sci majors? Many? Few? How are the facilities?

What are the chances for a brilliant math student who will likely not write an impressive admission essay? Will they take a good look at his strengths and his obvious interests based on his studies, test scores and extracurricular studies (EPGY Summer Institutes at Stanford) etc, or is he "doomed", as he thinks he is, because he has such difficulty writing?

Sorry for all the ????

Thanks

My D has a friend that just graduated from NCF from WA. I think he said there was another from his town there, too.

The campus is safe and it is a very small school. Student's tend to stay on the campus. I don't have any info about the math or comp sci program, but classes will be small and taught by Ph.D. Facilities at the school are fine, but not as impressive as Stanford's...it is a public college. The dorms, however, are very nice.

I think there is an emphasis on the essay at NCF, but it sounds like your son's strengths could possibly offset that. He should just try his best to show who he is through his essay. Good luck!

Thanks for the info
I'll take a look at their essay question. Maybe it won't be as hard for him as he thinks it will be
