I’m now in my senior year of highschool and just got denied from West Point, it is a dream of mine and I really have my heart set on going there. Is there anything I can do to boost my chances of getting in there next year or the following year? any colleges I can go to for a year or two?
I think I’d look at where you ant to be and see how else you might get there. Seems you want to be an officer in the US Army…how else can you accomplish that goal?
Look into a Senior Military College. If you got rejected by West Point this year, you probably aren’t going to get in next year either.
Do you think if I went to Citadel or VMI for two years and did really well theyd accept me then?
^ I’d like your opinion too
Didn’t decisions come out a while ago?
You should contact the CItadel and VMI directly and ask your question. They should know if students transfer out to the academies.
Did you deposit at any college for next year? You might pursue ROTC at a traditional school.
I got accepted at the citadel and a few other colleges that are local and not very good and need to know like NOW which college i should go to, if I go on to citadel do you think that West Point would accept me in a few years?
Yes decisioks came out a while ago I’m just a major procrastinator
FWIW, my plebe year roommate got into USNA after a year at Citadel. He was a USNA legacy (father was an AF colonel). Your best shot is going to be next year, not after two years at Citadel.
Thats reassuring, anymore advice?
VA Tech has a Corps of Cadets. They wear uniforms and live together as a military college. They are ROTC students. I know of one who has a full ride ROTC scholarship. Since you mentioned VMI I thought I’d mention it. The two schools are only about 80 miles apart so it would be easy to tour them both on the same trip.
I have many friends in my class at West Point who didn’t get in their first time. As someone mentioned before, your best chance is to try again next year. It honestly doesn’t matter what school you go to, whether it’s a military school like the citadel or a regular civilian school, but if you can get involved in an army ROTC program, than that’s great. While you’re in college, try to get good grades and stay involved. Keep playing your sport and West Point will actually consider your application as slightly higher than those applying straight out of high school.
Don’t be disappointed!! I’ve found that many of the best cadets are ones who went through a year of college or other prep program before coming here. Good luck
There are no guarantees, so start at a school with a ROTC or Cadet program where you would be okay to stay for four years if things don’t work out. It’s OK to try again, but a solid back up plan that you are happy with is also important.
