I got into Columbia with a 1440 SAT I (750 M, 690 V), but I did have an 800 writing. Those scores are definately in the ballpark for Columbia and Northwestern. Is it worth retaking 2150? That's up to you. You might want to try to do better just to make sure that you are going to be alright, but your scores right now put you in the ballpark.

I would say of all the Ivies, Columbia stresses least SAT scores and most on the essay/EC's. If you look at both the RD and ED rounds (especially the ED) you will see kids with 1500's consistently getting rejected and kids with high 1300's and low 1400's getting in. Why? Because they wrote far more persuasive essays.

Are you going to be applying ED to Columbia? If you have any questions on the school, drop me a private message.

Best of luck to you.
