Just how "nerdy" is Middlebrook?

I got accepted into the CLA Honors program and put Middlebrook as my first choice. However, I've been doing some more research on Middlebrook, and it seems that a lot of people are saying it's the "nerd" dorm--which I suppose is to be expected, seeing as it's also the honors housing.

For the most part, that doesn't bother me. Actually, if anything, I'm excited about it. I'm not anti-partying, but it sounds like at Middlebrook there will at least be the option of not being surrounded by it. And I enjoy sitting around on Tumblr or watching a Harry Potter marathon just as much as the next person.

However, I've also spent the last several years of high school being in a friend group of self-proclaimed nerds/geeks, while I'm not quite as interested in the same stuff... e.g. I would rather go to a concert or go and find a new restaurant, they would rather discuss Doctor Who for three hours.

I mean, I don't have a problem with that at all. It's just that I don't want to be stuck in the middle of people who have those interests again, since it's just not something I'm really into. Any thoughts? Thanks. :)

I think you will find a good mix of personalities and interests at Middlebrook. (you are admitted to Honors…would you mind a dorm full of kids like yourself?) :p

When my son was at Middlebrook, he said there a handful of stereotypical nerds (think Revenge of the Nerds) and that most everyone was really nice and had a good balance of fun and being serious about schoolwork.

I live in MB. Floors 3-4 are mixed between US students and international students, some of the funniest and unique people I’ve ever met (coming from all around the world). Floors 4-5-6 are pretty typical floors, and I think above that is honors where it is kinda eerily quiet. MB is kind of awesome if you don’t care about walking across the bridge, which can suck a lot during the winter. Feel free to ask anything else.
