Just introducing myself

Hey everyone, I recently received a LOA from USAFA and was looking on the internet for information about the academy when I ran into this forum. I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone.

I am planning on playing tennis for the women’s team at USAFA and I am still trying to decide what I want to major in, probably physics or math, maybe astro engineering.

so, hello.

Welcome...you have stumbled onto a valuable resource. There are several 4degree, 3degree, 2degree, and even First Class cadets, as well as the occasional parent here to answer the many questions you will have between now and I-day. My daughter is a current 4* and I would be happy to pass her email privately I know she would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Don't forget to post your info on the congradulations 2012 thread.

Just saw where you are from Redhead is also from Ore, a girl, and the 2011 class VP..I'm pretty sure she'll look to reach out to you.

Welcome to the boards!

You'll have a much better feel for a major once you actually get here. Physics, math, and astro are all pretty tough, but if that's what you want, go for it!

ds52262, that would be great, you could just send an e-mail to my google account at shannonyoung123@gmail.com

They have your email and you have theirs now too. I am sure they will be more than happy to let you know a girls perspective on USAFA.

Hey there! Congratulations!!! I remember being in your spot last year and being totally excited about coming here to the Academy. It will definitely be a challenge, but a great one! Even though it can be hard here, there are many great experiences and I don't regret my decision to come in the least!

Feel free to ask questions! Like ds52262 said, we all would love to help! Congrats again! :)

nice name btw... 2010 is the best class, so good choice in number after usafa. lol

congrats, and enjoy your last year of high school and freedom

(and yes, i did assume it actually is for ten-s, tennis, but its more fun to show class pride. you'll get used to it)

Wow, eagle... :)

I saw a little of that "class pride" when I was at the Academy for Summer Seminar last summer, and I am a little disappointed that I am the class of 2012, not very many things rhyme with twelve, I guess that just requires more creativity

Lol, '11 is having the same issue with a good motto. "Endless Horizons" didn't go over well with some. Class pride is more than a motto. I'm sure '12 will come up with some great stuff.

Your class will come up with something even if it's not your official motto. Like "2012, give em hell" or something like that. In basic we chanted "One, one, get er done" even though that definitely wasn't our approved motto. :)

Oh and by the way, we're in the process of changing ours from "Endless Horizons"... :)

yeah, good luck with that. '07 tried a million times, but permanent party has to approve it.

umm... dont be sad to be part of the class of 2012. k thanks.

:)

I'm not sad to be part of 2012! Its hard to express in words what I was going for with "sad" but I am definitely proud to be part of 2012

Go 2012! I'm also a female hopeful for the class of 2012... welcome to the forum! Great job with your LOA! I got one also, and it was such a relief. Good luck!

Um...just worry about getting to USAFA first, then you'll worry about your major. People switch majors all the time. I'm thinking about doing just that.
