I am curious, does Stanford have grade deflation or inflation?; Are GPA's generally accurate?; Knowing classes at Stanford are probably hard, what is the average GPA?; Etc. All of this info I am curious of.

popular opinion holds that it is grade inflation

i wouldnt use the term grade inflation because that infers that people dont necessarily deserve some of their grades. but average GPA is higher. personally i dont think it makes much of a difference what you call it because the students are smart either way

i guess i will find out in september

Grades are very inflated. Engineering + hard sciences are more stingy with grades than humanities, but in general, average grades for courses are very high (usually B+/A-). If you’re a student, you can see grade distributions for every class on Courserank, which is really useful.

The general consensus is grade inflation… though my pre-med friends would beg to differ.

agree with above posts.
core science and engineering tend to have more strict grading policies.
